Cyber Essentials, without the jargon

Cyber Essentials is increasingly required for tenders, insurance and grant applications — and it has to be renewed every year. I get you ready, fix what's needed, and guide you through certification, then keep you compliant year to year.

Why it keeps coming up

Cyber Essentials is the UK government-backed baseline for cyber security. More and more tenders won't shortlist without it, insurers ask about it at renewal, and funders increasingly require it on grant applications — especially for charities. It's also, genuinely, a sensible checklist: the five controls it covers stop the attacks that actually hit small organisations.

The rules tightened in April 2026: MFA is now required on all cloud services, and critical security patches must be applied within 14 days. If you certified under the older rules, renewal is where that change bites — worth checking before your assessment, not during it.

How I get you there

  1. Readiness review

Where you stand against the five controls, in plain English. You'll get a straight list of what passes, what doesn't, and what it'll take.

  2. Remediation

I fix what's needed — MFA, patching, access controls, firewall settings. For most small organisations it's configuration, not new hardware.

  3. Certification

I guide you through the assessment and handle the technical answers. The certificate itself is issued by an IASME-licensed Certification Body.

  4. Annual renewal

Certification lapses after a year. I keep your setup compliant in between, so renewal is routine rather than a scramble.

The honest bit

I don't issue the certificate — no IT support company does. Cyber Essentials is assessed and awarded by IASME-licensed Certification Bodies, and nobody can honestly promise you a guaranteed pass. What I can do is make sure nothing on the assessment is a surprise: by the time you submit, the gaps have already been found and fixed, so you already know you meet the requirements.
